Resin bound surfacing combines stone aggregate and resin, mixed together and trowelled onto a prepared base. The result is an even surface with the appearance of stone held firmly in place.

The aggregate is bound together, giving you a decorative finish without the routine raking and redistribution of loose gravel.
Water can pass through the resin bound layer. The base, sub-base and drainage must also be suitable for the complete driveway to drain correctly.
Regular sweeping and occasional cleaning help keep the finish looking its best. Low maintenance still means giving your driveway a little care.

A good-looking resin finish depends on what is underneath. Some existing tarmac or concrete driveways can be overlaid; others need repairs or a new base before work begins.

Tony has over 20 years of experience in tarmac and asphalt driveway construction. That understanding of groundwork, levels and surfacing matters when assessing the base for a resin bound finish.
Our team will assess your existing driveway, discuss the finish you want and explain the preparation required. From keeping a suitable base to planning a complete replacement, the recommendation starts with your property.

Contact Our TeamResin bound surfacing mixes the stones and resin together before the mixture is trowelled into place. Resin bonded surfacing scatters loose aggregate onto a layer of resin. They have different finishes and drainage characteristics. The service described on this page is resin bound.
Sometimes. The existing surface must be stable, properly prepared and suitable for the expected vehicle use. Cracks, movement, drainage and finished levels all need checking. An unsuitable base needs repair or replacement before resin is laid; loose gravel and individual paving blocks are not suitable direct bases for a conventional resin bound system.
The resin bound layer allows water to pass between the stones, but the driveway's overall drainage depends on the layers beneath it. A suitable permeable base and sub-base are needed for water to drain through the full construction. Where the base is impermeable, falls and drainage need to be designed accordingly.
The price depends on the area, existing base, excavation and preparation, drainage, access, edging and chosen finish. An overlay on a suitable base is a different job from a full rebuild. We provide a free quotation after assessing what your driveway needs.
Curing time varies with the resin system and site conditions, including temperature. We will confirm when the finished surface can take foot traffic and when it is ready for vehicles. Keep vehicles off until the advised curing period has passed.
Sweep away leaves and debris and clean the surface periodically using the care guidance for the installed system. Deal with spills promptly and keep drainage outlets clear. Resin bound surfacing is low maintenance, but it still needs routine care.
